Which is the better shade?

In the next few FAQ's we will help you decide between either Matt 1 or MIx 1.

Which is more original?

Matt is factory standard and totally correct. It is the closest to most new old stock original parts. Mix was created as a flashier counterpart to those who want a shiny Jeep.

What is less maintenance?

Fingerprints tend to show up on matt, which can be hard to maintain, which makes Mix a more popular choice. Matt suits a more rugged look, Mix is more polished.

We say - "Matt is flat, Mix is slight sheen, wipe clean"

Lets talk about painting - how do i get the best finish?

The best condition to paint in is on a bone dry, cool day. In direct sun on a hot day, the paint dries too quickly, so it's best to paint inside and undercover in a ventilated environment,

is there a colour difference?

Yes, ever-so slightly - Matt is lighter.

Spray cans vs litre tins

Spray cans are great for small jobs and are handy to keep in your tool box. Litre tins do larger jobs, but always keep them sealed and upright.

Do you stock larger denominations than 1 litre tins?

No - only litre tins are available.

How many 1 litre tins to paint a jeep?

For a standard respray of a jeep which is already green, 6 will do. But for a brand new restoration, taking into consideration all the small separate parts away from view, and the underneath could take up to 8 to 10. Always over-buy. Keep leftover tins for scruffs and scrapes.

Which thinners do i use?

Standard thinners, at 10%. We use Euro Car Parts Car Plan Thinners

Which undercoat?

Standard Euro Car Parts Red Oxide undercoat, ensure everything on the outside is primed for a great overall finish. Always take your time; it's all in the preparation.

Do i spray it on with specialist equipment?

It is not essential but it's allot easier. Our paint can be painted or rolled on. Remember we can do it for you on request - so call us. If you are nervous, and not confident you'll do a good overall job, it is better for someone else to do it.

Do you do resprays as a service?

Yes, on request.

Can you recommend a company to produce stencils?

We only use Axholme Signs in the UK which offer bespoke stencils on a next day service, and they have never let us down.  They also have great tips on the best application.

Is there a Mix 2 or Mat 2?

No - there is only one type of each, hence the name Mix 1 or Mat 1.

Do you send paint worldwide?

We can recommend a great trusted courier company who will handle the shipping of dangerous goods, yes. Otherwise, we send with DHL next day. Royal Mail will not handle flammable liquid.

Can you provide a spec sheet?

Yes - on request.

Can you send a sample?

We can paint any small part you have purchased from us, just tell us at check out. This is a great way to see the finish for yourself.

Do you stock more shades of green?

No - we don't need to, this is the closest to the US Army olive drab, we have stocked it for over 10 years and nothing else comes close to the quality or finish. However if you are looking to have your Jeep painted a correct desert sand yellow or British Royal Navy blue, or the paler US Navy light blue, we can assist you with pointing you in the direction to have this coloured to existing parts. Historically Jeeps come in different colours, including fire engine red - and we encourage you to see the colour of your Jeep as entirely your preference, but we hope the above guidance is helpful in deciding what finish you should go for yourself.
